Palms trees are synonymous with bright sunshine, ocean breezes, and tropical paradise. They can be drought-tolerant and withstand exposure to salt air and soil. They thrive in sandy soils and can often withstand hurricane winds. They are not immune to damage, however, and a number of conditions can cause palm trees to fall, creating risks to people and property. Heavy winds, insects, rodents, and rot can attack a palm tree leaving it degraded. While we are not sure what led to the falling of this palm tree, we do know that they are very bulky, heavy (up to 500 lbs / 226.8 kg), and have razor sharp leaves that make them very dangerous to remove.
