Weathering the Storm: Leaf Rust_Drought_Beetles

Kona Coffee is as unique as the Hawaiian Islands. It's grown is a small area that is unlike any other coffee growing region in the world. The volcanic soil, ocean breezes, intense sunshine, and varying elevations set the stage for some of the best coffee in the world. With that being said, it is the passion and love that the farmers of the Kona Coffee region bring to their work that creates a dynamic that is second-to-none.

Farmers battle the terrain on a daily basis, having to mow, weed, pick, and prune manually and are now facing a trifecta of unrelenting challenges including leaf rust, drought, and beetles. This is leading to a significant drop in production and the need to plant new trees as so many current and productive ones succumb.

Konalicious Organic Coffee and other farms committed to organic farming face an even more perilous journey because they adhere to the high standards of organics.
